Many people take the little things in life for granted and I am one of them. Growing up my mom would always tell me to not take things for granted but I usually never listened or just let it go. One day I was hit with the tragic passing of my grandma and everything that my mom once told me finally started to set in. I sadly learned the hard way to never take for granted the love and the family that you have because all of that could be gone in the blink of an eye. I remember listening to my mom on the phone with our relatives from Mexico talking about what they all wish they could have done differently and what they all wish they could have said to my grandma. That is when I realized that I should never take the love of a family member for granted or my family for granted. Another thing that most of us take for granted is that we wake up breathing. When our alarm starts going off in the morning we cannot help but think about all of the tasks that have yet to be completed. We’re all counting the days down till Friday, trying to rush through all the days in school. What we do not take time to think about is that we woke up breathing. We take for granted that we have another day on this wonderful earth of ours. The thing I take for granted the most is that I get the privilege to receive an education. I am always complaining that school is too hard or too long, but what I do not realize is that other kids do not have the ability to get an education because of certain circumstances. I should be grateful that I am able to learn and become smarter because of school. We get so caught up in life that we take the little things for granted, but it is the little things in life that make it worth living.
